To the Editor,
You are so right about people not caring & it happens all the time when
we`re out, people will not move aside to let us pass & even look at me &
move to take a stand to show me they will not move so it would be very
difficult in a wheel chair & people do not give eye contact to people in a
chair or talk to them & treat them like they are deaf & dumb, it has gone on
forever & a day that wheel chairs are not given proper access to toilets &
ramps etc.
My husband always tries to lend a hand when he can & I try to
have eye contact with folk in a chair.
I don`t know how things will ever change or if something happens to people in life that makes them wake
up & not be so selfish or if they just stay the same.
I will say that
when we get on a crowded train someone always jumps up & gives me their seat
which I`m always very thankful for & it makes me think that I must look like
an old lady now :-)
So it`s good that you are giving them a nudge with your write up, Ita
Buttrose was always spruiking about the lack of manners & consideration.
How different life would be if all people were kind & warm hearted & it
wouldn`t cost them a cent.
All the best for 2009.
Kind Regards,
Esther, Joondalup, Western Australia.
