Hi Fagmedia,
I am writing in response to your Health & Wellbeing, I have gay
siblings & I know only too well of the discrimination that is alive & well
out there, not for myself but the derogatory way people talk & joke about
gays & lesbians is always in my face & I see the way my family are
ostracized & discriminated against & shunned by people, relations & people
who had been family friends.
Even folk who are parents of gays & lesbians pretend that they are gay
friendly & accepting of their gay family are two faced & call them
derogatory names behind their back.
My family have all had to relocate changing completely to a very different
lifestyle to that which we had grown up with & thought that it would have
been our way of life forever.
You would expect better from our medical profession & over the years it has
been surprising to find just how ignorant they are including Doctors, with
their privileged education & hopefully with their dedication they should
treat all patients with respect & the duty of care they deserve.
It is a very hard path in life for gays & lesbians who experience
discrimination but for all of you out there you must always remember that it
is not your shame, it sits entirely on the shoulders of those who dish out
this cruel treatment & they must wear it.
Be proud of yourselves & never give up fighting for your rights.
From a sister with a voice.
