Anal is not the only kind of sex!

Years ago, a researcher by the name of Ron Gold described the decisive moment, the point in time when men make the "decision" to engage in either safe or unsafe behaviour. In summary, Gold said that Safe Sex interventions needed to speak to this most important moment including the intention to be safe, which is established well before the encounter!

Safe sex campaigns contain the message of condoms and anal sex. Is it true that these campaigns have "sold" BOTH anal sex and condoms with equal vigour and that gay men have been conditioned into thinking, like straight men, that sex equals penetration and that wanking along with kissing is just not sex?

Regardless, increasing rates of STIs can only suggest that current safe sex messages are not working. Common sense dictates that very least we should be having conversations about these matters. In the meantime, Fagmedia as a "concerned citizen" is continuing to develop campaigns that we hope are of some assistance.

Other low risk activities such as wanking are viable alternatives to unsafe anal sex. > Risk taking behaviours with strangers does not make you more of a man! > It is possible that taking your time and reducing the number of sexual partners will reduce the likelihood of getting STIs. > Missing out on one fuck at one time is not the end of the world! >  It is possible to exchange telephone numbers and arrange to meet another time when more prepared. >  Dating will not inherently compromise your gay masculinity. > Contracting Lifetyle related STIs and passing them on does not make you more cool. > Not knowing where you got an STI from is not a sign that you are more of a man. > Lifestyle related STIs are not cool! >
