George`s comments on the 2009 Ashes Series Australia V England in England.
1st Test
Australia outplayed England but lost time due to rain & bad light. On the
last day England saved the Test by batting on with 1 wicket left & Australia
ran out of time.
2nd Test
England outplayed Australia in both batting & bowling. Result England won.
3rd Test
A draw. Australia batted first & did not get a big score 263 runs. England
batted getting a good score of 376 runs in first innings, a lead of 113
runs. Australia batted very well in the second innings 376 runs building a
big lead & still had 5 wickets in hand when the game ended. One day was
washed out & on the other days time was lost but Australia showed they were
on top. Michael Clarke & Marcus North helped to save the game.
4th Test
England won the toss & batted, all out for 102 runs. Australia batted
getting a huge lead 445 runs then bowled England out with Australia winning
by an innings & 80 runs.
5th Test
England won the toss & batted badly getting 332 runs. Australia batted badly
for 160 runs. England batted well in their second innings getting 373 runs.
Australia needed 544 runs in their second innings which has never been done
before & were all out for 348 runs, well beaten Australia hadn`t picked
right players all through the Test Series.
I think in all of this Test Series the Umpires made a lot of blues.
